Decrease cost and time associated with the fabrication and assembly of the CT gantry

Project Strategy:

Danco representatives worked directly with Philips engineering personnel to assist in the gantry’s streamlined fabrication and assembly. We reviewed our own component processes along with Philip’s other component vendors and developed a strategy to bring more of the complete fabrication to the Danco facility, saving Philips time and cost in the overall gantry assembly. In order to help Philips improve their product rollout timing, we custom designed 5,000 square feet within our assembly area in order to facilitate the management of the complete gantry (remove cabinet). We explored the cost benefits to having Danco engineer and fabricate components against the option of receiving and assembling subparts from other vendors. Danco’s plan documented significant cost savings and timing efficiency to bringing the complete gantry assembly in-house.

Project Results:

Danco began Philips Medical’s complete CT gantry cabinet assembly upon project approval, and delivered on-time and under budget. Philips realized improved efficiency in rolling out over 3 completed gantries per day, resulting in measurable overall cost savings.
